I keep thinking how we almost made it

HOLY MOTHER OF GOD THAT WAS MY SUBMISSION! I wrote that sentence earlier this year at the beginning of my journal full of details after two years of ‘almosts’ with several different men that I was seeing right after a man I put a lot of faith into told me he wanted to be with me and then completely vanished. I had the sentence in my head for a while, but I never realized how much weight it had to it until I wrote it down. Almosts are one of the most hurtful types of love—it’s there and it’s seemingly sure, but then it falls flat. And you’re left with this confusion and you replay it over and over thinking about how it was within reach. Then I saw peytonfulford calling for submissions to the series of abandonedloveseries and I wanted to submit it because it is such a novelty way to express a very universal type of hurt.
